19th Century Railroading

I have been a long-time steam train operator making 19th century history come to life. Many of the historic railroads in operation throughout the country utilize equipment from the twentieth century, but at the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City, the majority of the locomotives and rolling stock are from the 19th century. It is one of the few places in the country where the public has an opportunity to interact with artifacts of this age...

...It is not enough to simply see these artifacts in operation. Visitors can hear the sounds of the locomotives working, smell the wood burning fire, feel the heat of the locomotive, and reach out and touch it. Once there, we can begin a conversation about the history of the artifacts, how people in their era would have interacted and depended upon this industrial machinery, and how railroads helped build Nevada and the United States.
